How to Play Wuxia Cultivation

Live through a long wuxia journey across the Central Plains: train, travel, accept quests, build relationships, recover treatises, and shape your ending.

First moves

  1. Start a new character or continue a save, then use the world map to travel between known locations.
  2. Enter locations to speak with NPCs, gather resources, trigger story events, and find quest objectives.
  3. Use the header and Menu panels to review character stats, quests, inventory, crafting, sect life, companions, codex entries, and appraisal records.

Useful habits

  • Travel advances the calendar, so check quests and rumors before spending many days on the road.
  • Esc closes most panels and returns focus to the game shell.
  • The Historical Codex explains the real places, objects, and eras behind the story without blocking progress.

About Wuxia · Central Plains

A turn-based wuxia RPG of the Zhongyuan (中原), inspired by 大侠立志传 and 逸剑风云决. Travel a node-graph world map, advance the calendar, talk to NPCs, accept faction quests, recover the Five Lost Treatises — six endings, each shaped by the centuries you walked through.

Story

Hidden Sword, open roads, and a changing Zhongyuan: the game tracks a wandering xia through history rather than a single static campaign map.

You begin in Tang Luoyang under the high empire — Tianjin Bridge crowded with Sogdian caravans and court officials, the Mingtang ritual hall lacquered in gold. You are a long-lived xia; cultivation extends a mortal life past dynasties. Through three acts the world walks forward in time: late-Tang decline and the Five Dynasties wandering, then Song Bianjing — the bustling city of the Qingming-scroll painting.

Travel between regions on a stylised world map; days advance with each journey. At each location, speak to NPCs, accept faction quests, gather resources, and rest to recover. Era progression gates on completed faction storylines or recovered Lost Treatises. Tactical grid-based combat and the technique-tree system land in a follow-up phase.

A Historical Codex (📜 button) opens an in-game library of fourteen illustrated entries on the real Zhongyuan culture behind the game — the Mingtang, Wu Zetian, Shaolin, the Yellow River, the Qingming scroll, the Song examination system, and more — each grounded in copyright-free Tang and Song paintings and a full APA-7 bibliography mirrored at /docs/wuxia-bibliography.md.
